Boland Kelder
At Boland Kelder we passionately follow a traditional philosophy, perfect in its simplicity: teamwork and terroir. Boland Kelder has over the last decade evolved into a dynamic and progressive cellar, one which is fast realizing its true potential. Since South Africa's re-introduction to the world wine arena in the early 1990s, there has been a dramatic change in vine plantings, winemaking and management styles to meet the needs of a changing world. The last nine years have seen Boland garner a host of medals and awards at international and domestic competitions (amongst others 82 national and international trophies, 23 Double Gold and 112 Gold) highlighting the constant quality of the wines it offers. The winemakers, Bernard Smuts and Naudé Bruwer, work closely with Jurie Germishuys, the cellar master to ensure that the end goal of quality wine is attained. This ensures that when Boland uses the words "good quality" thy do not use it as an empty term for marketing purposes but one which all members of the company and its producing shareholders understand and adhere to. New MD, Jean du Toit, exerts good leadership based on years of experience to help the team to focus on their appointed tasks and to achieve success in their specific areas. Boland Kelder is extremely fortunate to have five different areas from which to source grapes. Great emphasis is placed on meticulous vineyard practices and the careful selection of the best quality grapes from these diverse regions.
